Job Opening:  Faculty for Semester College Program in India

Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Education: Master (MA, MSW, etc.)
Location: Auroville, Tamil Nadu, 605 101, India
Type: Full time

Living Routes creates and operates accredited, college-level programs based in “ecovillages” around the world that help students gain the knowledge, skills and inspiration to build sustainable lifestyles for themselves, their communities and the planet. Living Routes is accredited through UMass-Amherst. More information about the program can be found here.

Description of Job Responsibilities:
Duties include that characteristic of a college level teacher and international travel program leader as generally summarized below.
• Aid in planning and delivering programmatic goals (orientation, student learning plans, academic requirements) as needed
• Administer Living Routes policies and systems in the field for program effectiveness
• Provide for the safety, health, and well-being of the participants
• Supervise coursework and support and evaluate student learning.
• Offer seminars relating to program topics and areas of personal expertise
• Live with the student community in order to facilitate a positive community-building process among students
• Ensure the continuity of the academic requirements of the program
• Be a guide, teacher, learner, and model practitioner of sustainable, mindful living for students
• Meet regularly and work collaboratively with the Program Liaison and support staff based in Auroville
• Participate in regular faculty meetings during the program
• Commit to a detailed final review of employment upon completion of the program

Desired Qualifications:
• Master’s degree and professional experience in academic field related to sustainable development (Ph.D. is preferred)
• Experience in developing countries, India in particular
• Effective organizational skills and ability to formulate short- and long-range goals and objectives
• Strong interpersonal and team skills and ability to lead groups in an international setting
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Strong sense of integrity and commitment to sustainability and experiential education
• Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification, Wilderness First Responder (WFR) preferred
